Couples Counseling with Nancy
Welcome! I’m Nancy and I appreciate that you have taken the first step to be here today.
I recognize that taking the first step can be extremely difficult, and it takes true courage to dive into the unknown and embrace the possibilities ahead.
I believe relationships are important and meaningful; they enrich our lives, providing a basis for personal growth and new opportunities. Much like a candle, love can illuminate our lives and create feelings of longing and belonging.
When the sparks fade, and the flame disappears, we may find ourselves in a relationship that seems distant and unfamiliar.
We may begin to feel disconnected—and unsafe.
As we navigate through this process, it is important to recognize common challenges in partnerships and marriages:
-
Communication Differences
-
Differences in Values
-
Trust Issues & Infidelity
-
Physical Intimacy & Sex
-
Balancing Roles and Responsibilities
-
Misaligned Expectations
-
External Stressors & Coping Mechanisms
-
Attachment Styles
-
Lack of Quality Time and Emotional Intimacy
-
Differences in Parenting Styles
-
Financial Management
Oftentimes, the root causes of discontent and disconnection in relationships are hidden beneath years of unrecognized patterns and unmet needs —presented as the challenges listed above. Our needs are important, and learning to communicate them effectively will help our relationships feel valued.
As your therapist, my role is to create a safe and collaborative space where both you and your partner can openly express your thoughts and feelings. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I strive to honor the unique aspects of each partner’s narrative. Together, we will work to identify and articulate each other’s needs, ensuring that both partners feel heard, understood, and valued.
By understanding these dynamics, we can work towards breaking free from negative cycles that may have held you captive, and feeling stuck, for so long. By addressing these challenges, we can work together to reignite that flame, and find new ways to nurture the fire, and help it grow stronger and brighter.
